What if this isn't just a busy season?
Options we have besides pushing through…
I sat down to write this newsletter and realized something important.
I had nothing.
No ideas.
No motivation.
No desire to force words onto the page.
At first, I told myself I was just tired.
Maybe I needed a day off.
But then I noticed something.
I've been here before.
Maybe you have too.
You push through a demanding season.
…Take a breath.
…Get some rest.
And then somehow, a few weeks or months later, you find yourself right back in the same place.
Overwhelmed.
Mentally carrying too much.
Wondering why leadership feels so heavy.
That's when I started asking a different question.
What if this isn't just a busy season?
What if the exhaustion isn't the message?
What if the pattern is?
Our bodies are often the first to notice when something isn't working.
Long before our minds are ready to admit it.
A lack of motivation.
Difficulty concentrating.
Feeling unusually impatient.
The sense that even small things require more energy than they should.
We often treat these as problems to solve.
âś” Push through.
âś” Take a day off.
âś” Try harder next week.
But sometimes they're invitations to get curious.
Not curious about what's on your calendar.
Curious about what keeps bringing you back here.
Because if you keep arriving at the same place, the answer may not be more rest.
It may be recognition that your current way of coping won’t work for the long haul. (Well, it might work, but at what cost?)
